Alexander Lukashenko has put forward an initiative to reduce the production of potash fertilizers.

The President announced this during the approval of the appointment of Andrei Rybakov to the post of General Director of Belaruskali.

The head of state asked his interlocutor to work on this issue, especially with the Russians.

I don’t remember such prices in history at all: very low prices for potash fertilizers, although the miners’ work is not easy, ” the Belarusian leader’s press service quotes him as saying.

In this regard, he proposed to negotiate with the Russians and, possibly, reduce the production of potash fertilizers by 10-11 percent.

It’s not that there will be a shortage on the market, but everyone will understand that these are expensive products and that they need to be paid for accordingly, Lukashenko explained.

And he stressed once again: it is necessary to negotiate with producers of potash fertilizers regarding the reduction of production volumes.

There is no need,” he added, “to sell products for next to nothing, almost at cost price.

I am inclined to think that we need to reduce production by 10 percent (maybe more). The main thing is that people do not suffer: that wages are paid on time and so on, - the President noted.

Speaking about the fact that mineral fertilizers are under sanctions, he suggested selling them on the market “through food products.”

Let us finally introduce sufficient amounts of mineral fertilizers to obtain a greater harvest in crop production and, accordingly, to obtain more milk and meat in livestock production and sell them, the head of state added.

He instructed the government to work on the relevant issues.
