The Council of Ministers of Belarus adopted Resolution No. 713 (5), adjusting some price regulation standards.

According to the document, maximum selling prices will be set from October 21 of this year to May of next year, and maximum retail prices will be set from October 29 of this year to May of next year for fresh cucumbers, onions, apples, white cabbage, carrots, beets, and food potatoes (except washed ones).

As the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Alexey Bogdanov explained, the innovations are aimed at curbing inflation.

According to him, the innovations will also ensure the availability of Belarusian goods in stores.

Commenting on the exemption of premium goods from regulation, the head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade noted that in this case there is no point in regulating pricing.

There is no point in subsidizing wealthy people who can afford to buy such goods, the head of the department added.

Speaking about the reduction of importer markups on wheat pasta, buckwheat, juices, berry, fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable nectars, toothpaste, ceramic tiles and hosiery, the minister noted that the said goods are produced
in sufficient quantity in the country.

We must provide ourselves with such goods, said the head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.

He also said that the government is developing an alternative price regulation system.

According to Bogdanov, it is planned to create a system with the least government intervention in pricing, while ensuring economic development, stable saturation of the domestic market and affordable prices for the population.

The head of the department noted that several options for an alternative system are being developed.

We plan to adopt it next year, the minister summed up.
