There is probably no need to explain to anyone what a small room is.
Such premises, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, rightly notes, are difficult to make both cozy and functional.
But thanks to a couple of clever tricks, you can still expand the space – at least visually.
First, work some magic with the cornice.
If you place the curtain rod directly above the window, you will end up cutting into the already small space.
As a result, it will seem as if the ceiling is almost on your head, although in reality this is not the case. Also, such placement of the cornice visually makes the window itself smaller and causes an atmosphere of confinement.
Instead of hanging the curtain rod above the window, try to fix it as high as possible. The size of the curtains is also important - they should be longer.
As a result, the window opening will look as if it is much larger than it actually is, and the space itself will “stretch” in height.
Consider pairing such a window with a high doorway.
The “victim” of the next design trick is the carpet.
If it is too small, all your efforts to increase the space of a small room will be in vain - it will simply divide the floor into fragments and thereby reduce its area.
What to do? Buy a large rug that will cover all or most of the room.
Thanks to this little trick, the illusion of free space will be created. Choose the print carefully - it can lengthen or expand the area of the room.
