3 Tasteless Interior Design Trends That Were Popular Once

Many (fortunately, not all) trends in the world of interior design quickly become fashionable, but after a short time lose their relevance.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino decided to compile her own list of such trends, which today are already considered ugly and ineffective.

Ruffles and heavy draperies

In the 2000s, people who wanted to demonstrate their high social status often chose curtains with lambrequins and bedspreads with ruffles for their apartments.

Nowadays, these elements are considered outdated. Modern design is based on the principles of minimalism, so there is no place for such pompous details. Choose simpler and more laconic textiles - they are no less beautiful.

Bean Bag Chairs

Bean bag chairs became popular among millions of people when they first appeared in the 1970s. However, this period was short-lived.

The second surge of interest occurred in the 2000s, when frameless furniture began to be used not only in apartments, but also in public places.

Today, designers try to avoid beanbag chairs in urban interiors, as they do not correspond to the principles of modern minimalism and high-tech. However, those who do not want to get rid of such furniture are allowed to place it on the balcony, thereby creating a cozy recreation area.

Inspirational Quotes

Annoying posters with inspirational quotes fail to fulfill their aesthetic function. Although this trend has become popular relatively recently, designers predict that it will soon be replaced by stylish paintings.
