How to furnish a small apartment without remodeling or demolishing walls: general recommendations for each room
Legal redevelopment is, frankly speaking, not an easy task. Moreover, this step is not always possible – especially if we are talking about a panel house or a load-bearing wall.
However, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, advises not to give up and instead of major repairs with moving walls, use her recommendations.
1. A complex style (classic, etc.) is not suitable for small-sized apartments – they would be better suited to modern filling in the spirit of minimalism.
Make sure to have a uniform floor covering, make the ceiling, walls and floor light to visually enlarge the space and make it lighter.
Find furniture with legs – this little trick also helps to add freedom to the interior. A great option is transparent plastic chairs, which are almost invisible and therefore do not overload the interior.
2. In the nursery, place a bunk bed (if there are two children) or a bunk bed with a play area below and a sleeping area above (for one child).
Don't try to choose something thematic - children grow up quickly, and their tastes change just as quickly. Instead, get simple furniture in a light shade and without pretentious decor.
3. For the kitchen, use a modern style with a colored tile backsplash and light facades.
Be sure to pay due attention to lighting - lamps should be in both the work and dining areas. Speaking of curtains, roller or Roman curtains will look great in a small kitchen - necessarily in a neutral shade.
4. The bathroom needs to be made functional. It is necessary to provide free space under the sink for a cabinet or a washing machine, and install a sliding screen under the bathtub, which will provide easy access to pipes and will become a place for storage.
It is best to finish the room with white tiles, and then add accent colored tiles, for example, wood. Do not skimp on lighting, as a light room looks larger.
