Why You Shouldn't Use a Wardrobe to Zone a Room: The Worst Thing You Could Ever Think Of

The simplest and most common method of zoning is dividing a room into parts using furniture.

For this purpose, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, explained, you can use a wardrobe, sofa, shelving unit or any other piece of furniture.

The truth is that this method can only be used when dealing with large spaces.

If we are talking about a small room, such vertical partitions look too bulky. Because the visual center is shifted to them, the home immediately becomes disproportionate, overloaded and does not feel cozy.

But these are not all the disadvantages: perhaps the main disadvantage of this method is that furniture used as a partition takes away precious square meters from the owners of the room.

If you are unlucky enough to have a small room at your disposal, use color to zone the space.

Paint the wall behind the sofa in a contrasting color to separate it from the rest of the space. You can also highlight a work or dining area.

Another worthy option is lighting scenarios: light sources will help to highlight the necessary elements of the interior.

If you want to divide a room into two parts physically, not visually, attach a curtain rod to the ceiling and hang a curtain. You will get two small rooms inside one: for example, a bedroom and a living room, or a hall and an office.

At any time, you can pull back the curtain and unite the space again. In addition, textiles do not make the room bulky, but on the contrary, add lightness.
