What designers think about multi-level ceilings: there is only one truth

Multi-level plasterboard ceilings with multi-colored lighting were once at the peak of popularity.

They were also decorated with wave-like structures and numerous spotlights, recalls Yulia Tychino , an expert from the online publication BelNovosti.

At that time, such a design was considered expensive and luxurious.

However, people have now realized that such bulky structures are inappropriate, especially in small apartments with low ceilings.

Drywall takes up precious inches, making the room look even smaller than it actually is.

Stretch ceilings are also a controversial solution: glossy, with photo printing or a starry sky effect - all of them can be called a relic of the past.

However, if the condition of the ceilings is poor and you need to save time and effort on leveling them, designers advise installing tension structures.

When choosing a stretch ceiling, give preference to those that are visually similar to the painted surface.

This means that the stretch ceiling fabric should be matte, not glossy.

Color is also important: it would be better if the ceiling was not white, but slightly beige or grayish - these shades will not contrast sharply with the walls and will visually make the ceiling higher.

Instead, you can choose a matte finish in neutral shades, such as beige or gray. Professional designers recommend avoiding sharp contrasts with the walls and choosing light colors that visually increase the height of the ceiling.
