Frankly speaking, it doesn’t matter at all what room in the house you are going to buy a chandelier for – be it a living room, a kitchen or a bedroom, your task, first of all, is to choose lighting that would correspond to the purpose of the room.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino has thought through all the details for you and shared tips that will be useful when choosing a chandelier for the bedroom.

Bed placement

One of the most important things to consider when choosing a chandelier for your bedroom is the location of your bed.

The best option for spacious rooms is a chandelier placed in the center of the ceiling, while for small bedrooms the best option is a chandelier hanging above the bed and complemented by a system of spotlights on the ceiling.

Chandelier size

Make sure that the chandelier you choose is not too massive – you are unlikely to be comfortable sleeping under an impressive-sized object hanging from the ceiling.

Moreover, the ceiling height does not always allow for the implementation of such design solutions.

Room shape

If your bedroom is a narrow space, look for chandeliers with all the bulbs lined up in one line. In this case, you will get uniform light.

If the layout is standard, models with a round shape are allowed, where all the lamps converge to one base. Externally, such a design resembles a bunch of berries.

Additional light sources

Other lighting fixtures that would complement a chandelier in a bedroom are usually sconces or bedside lamps.

You can use lighting fixtures from one collection, or you can choose models that will match in shape, style and color.

Fans of contrasting options should make sure that there is at least one more detail in the interior that would support this contrast.

And finally: if you want your bedroom to be comfortable and cozy, give preference to models with closed lampshades and shades that can emit soft, diffused light.
