Nowadays, when interior design possibilities are practically limitless, many people easily get rid of Soviet furniture.
However, designer Yulia Tychino, an expert for the online publication BelNovosti, believes that such a decision is not always justified.
We invite you to find out which items from the Soviet era can fit well into a modern interior.
We won't hide it - the attitude towards the wall unit from the USSR is contradictory. On the one hand, it is convenient for storing things, on the other - too bulky for small apartments.
In a modern apartment, such furniture is often replaced with more compact and functional interior items. However, if the wall is in good condition, you can try to change its configuration - for example, separate the vertical section for the kitchen, use open shelves for the living room, and adapt the lower section for a TV.
You can also leave the furniture unchanged – this way it will add coziness and a vintage atmosphere to the room. If you have the desire and opportunity to update the wall, you can paint it in different colors, replace the handles and thus create a unique piece of furniture.
Like the wall unit, this piece of furniture is very functional and helps solve the problem of storing things. If it is in good condition, it can be left unchanged - it will fit perfectly into an interior with smooth light walls and a neutral palette.
Alternatively, add decorative elements typical of the Soviet era, such as a patterned rug. If you like the shabby chic style, you can paint an old cabinet white, and those who have old wallpaper can use it to create a bright accent in the interior by pasting it over the furniture.
How a Soviet table will look in the interior depends on the overall style of the room.
If you place it next to modern furniture in a minimalist interior, it will stand out and attract attention. If you place the table in a vintage-style office, it will fit perfectly and become an organic part of the interior.
