Where to Store Things in a Small Apartment: Tips for Winter and Summer

It is not easy to organize a full-fledged storage system in a small apartment. You can’t put a cabinet next to every wall.

While you can put sports equipment in a storage room, you can't hide clothes and other necessary things.

Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told how to act correctly in such a situation.

Cabinets up to the ceiling

In this case, you need to divide the closet into two tiers and use each level according to the season. For example, put summer things on top for the winter, and winter things on the lower tier.

At the same time, you can provide a little space somewhere at the very top, where you can’t get without a stepladder. Here you can hide a Christmas tree and even skis.

Podium

A great alternative to a dressing room for a small bedroom is to place a bed on a high podium and install shelves for storage in it.

Residents of small apartments simply must take this technique into account.

The only drawback of this solution is that rearranging it will be problematic.

Another life hack for the bedroom is storing things at the head of the bed. This can be either wall-mounted cabinets or open shelves.

You can do the opposite and organize storage not under the bed, but above the sleeping area.

By the way, the second tier for storing things can be organized not only above the sleeping area, but also above the work desk.

Niches and piers

Surely, in any house there is such a nook where it is impossible to squeeze cabinet furniture. Do not be lazy to order a cabinet or a rack according to individual sizes and store everything you need here.

And the place for storing shoes does not necessarily have to be horizontal. Use narrow and high shelves for shoes.

Earlier we talked about how to get rid of the feeling of cramped space in an apartment.
