Blue, a color associated with calm and coolness, is extremely popular in interior design.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, told how to use this color in the interior of an apartment.
First of all, let us remember that blue has a lot of shades, ranging from very light to dark, almost black.
Although all of them are suitable for interior use, they will look different, and the rules for their use will differ.
If we talk about light colors, with their help you can create a feeling of freshness. Darker shades will make the interior noble and luxurious.
The specialist advises to opt for shades that are close to natural ones, for example, the color of the sea or sky, berries or flowers.
Fans of bright shades should be careful: a small amount of them can really provide a boost of energy and positivity, but an excess of them will be irritating.
And there shouldn't be too much dark blue in the interior. Otherwise, the atmosphere will acquire an oppressive effect.
The conclusion follows from this: bright and dark shades of blue should not be used as the main ones, but rather as an additional, contrasting shade (no more than 30% of the entire space). Very bright and dark colors are suitable as accent colors (up to 10% of the furnishings).
But you can safely take light shades as the main ones. In turn, so that the room does not become too cold, dilute the light blue color with contrasting warm colors.
