Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , told what should be checked before starting to install the cornice.
First of all, you should make sure that the gap between the window and the ceiling is at least 20 cm - otherwise the curtain rod simply will not fit here.
Make sure that the distance from the cornice to the ceiling is not less than a third of the total distance between the window and the ceiling. At the same time, the cornice should be located at least 5 cm above the window opening.
Compliance with the above proportions will help to avoid destruction of the plaster during installation work.
The cornice should be 10-15 cm away from the wall: this way the structure will not touch the radiator or window sill.
To maintain a strict parallel between the cornice and the ceiling, it is worth using a proven life hack: make markings by putting dots with a pencil every 30 cm.
Finally, a piece of advice for those who plan to hang a curtain rod across the entire wall. Choose a product whose length, together with the tips, is 5-6 cm shorter than the distance between the walls, otherwise you will encounter difficulties during installation.
