What to do if the laminate has swelled: you can fix the error without major alterations

If the laminate flooring was installed in winter, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise when summer arrives.

The floor covering may simply swell.

This happens because in the cold season the air in the room is drier, and the laminate has the ability to deform under the influence of moisture.

Thus, in winter the floor covering decreases, and in summer, on the contrary, it expands.

You should take care of the “prevention” of possible problems with pressed wood fiber boards even during the renovation, by leaving a small distance between the laminate and the wall.

To make the gap less noticeable, it is covered with a baseboard.

If this rule is neglected, the floor covering may not only take on a curved shape, but even crack.

In case of cracks, the only solution is, of course, replacing the tiles, while swelling can be eliminated in the following way: remove the baseboard and trim the laminate a little so that the distance between it and the wall is about 5-10 mm.
