Belarusian poet and composer Oleg Zhukov, author of the hit “People Meet,” has died

Recently, information appeared about the death of the famous Belarusian poet and composer Oleg Zhukov, author of the hit “People Meet”.

The author of over three hundred songs for domestic and Russian pop performers passed away at the age of 87.

The Belta agency reported this with reference to the chairperson of the Belarusian Union of Composers, Elena Atrashkevich.

It is worth noting that Oleg Zhukov actively collaborated with another iconic musician for Belarus – People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Antonov.

In addition, he wrote songs for such performers as Lev Leshchenko, Nikolai Baskov, Larisa Dolina and others.

Oleg Zhukov is also the author of the anthems for the music festivals “Slavic Bazaar”, “Golden Hit”, and the “Televershina” competition.

The cause of the poet and composer's death has not yet been determined.
