The long-familiar salad “Herring under a fur coat” continues to be perfected by housewives, and many succeed.
One of the innovations is serving the salad in the form of a roll, with gelatin. But we will tell you about a special recipe for a “fur coat” – a New Year’s one.
1. Boil beets, carrots and potatoes. Peel and grate on a coarse grater.
2. Peel the apples, remove the core, and grate on a coarse grater.
3. Cut the onion into small cubes or as you prefer.
4. Separate the herring into fillets and cut into thin strips.
5. Place the salad: potatoes, herring, onions, apples, carrots and beets.
Each layer is coated with mayonnaise. Some cooks advise to apply mayonnaise only on top of the beets, but this is a matter of taste.
Place the salad in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours to soak, and serve.
Earlier we talked about how to replace mayonnaise in a salad.
