Why Thin Pancakes Tear When Flipping: You Used the Wrong Frying Pan

Even a novice cook can probably handle kneading the dough for thin pancakes, but baking is not such a simple task.

The most common problem at this stage is that the pancakes tear when you try to flip them over.

The reasons may be very different: for example, you put too little (or, conversely, too much) flour, did not adjust the amount of oil, messed up the number of eggs, used too much sugar, etc.

In addition, pancakes can break due to unsuitable equipment.

This happens when you use a chipped, cracked or dented pan to fry pancakes, causing the dough to burn and stick.

A thin stainless steel frying pan is also not suitable, even if it has no external defects. It will quickly overheat and cool down quickly, which is why you will not be able to bake pancakes without tearing them.

But it may not just be the pan that matters – the spatula you use to flip the pancakes can also affect the final result.

To be able to lift the pancake without tearing it, use a thin and wide spatula.
