Whipped and baked egg whites are not yet the meringue cake that every schoolchild from the USSR era is familiar with.

Wanting to reproduce this recipe, housewives create only something similar to a cafeteria delicacy. But in those days, everything of high quality corresponded to GOST.

We'll tell you how to make meringue cake at home, just like in the USSR.

You will need:

  • eggs - 4 pcs.;
  • sugar - 200 g;
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp;
  • salt - a pinch.

How to cook

1. To prepare this dessert, you need to choose large eggs and then separate the whites from the yolks.

2. Beat the whites with a mixer with a pinch of salt and lemon juice.

3. As foam appears, add sugar in small portions and continue whisking until the foam becomes thick and stable.

4. Line a baking sheet with parchment, transfer the cream into a pastry syringe and form the future cakes using a suitable nozzle.

Preheat the oven to 100 degrees Celsius and bake the cakes for 50-60 minutes.
