How to Make Fluffy Potato Donuts: Tastier Than Any Mashed Potatoes or Potato Pancakes

This is exactly how housewives think when they want to cook something unusual from potatoes.

Even those who can't stand to look at mashed potatoes will appreciate the airy donuts, while potato pancakes don't cause much delight. The finished dish is served with sour cream, herbs or your favorite sauce.

The list of ingredients consists of:

  • potatoes – 600 g;
  • salt – 1.5 tsp;
  • dry yeast – 2 tsp;
  • sugar – 1 tsp;
  • flour – 500 g;
  • water – 50 ml;
  • eggs – 1 pc.;
  • vegetable oil – 1 l.

How to make potato donuts

1. Boil the potatoes without the skin and then mash them into a smooth puree. Do not drain all the water in which the vegetable was boiled, but leave 180 ml.

2. Mix the yeast with sugar, salt, 1 tbsp. flour and warm water. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients to the puree, pour in the potato broth and add the yeast mixture.

3. After kneading, cover the dough with cling film and put it in a warm place for an hour.

4. When the dough has doubled in size, knead it with the addition of flour.

5. Form the dough into balls, approximately the size of a walnut.

6. Preheat the frying pan with oil, then fry the donuts over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side.
