Many people love pea dishes, but not everyone cooks them due to the specifics of preparing dried beans.
Experienced housewives know that peas need to be soaked beforehand. However, this process can be sped up.
On average, it takes 5 hours to soak peas. Often, the beans are placed in water in the evening and left until the morning.
This method is suitable for those who have time. But what about cooks who don’t have 5-10 hours to spare? Soda will come to the rescue – ½ tsp for every 2 liters of water in which the peas are cooked.
Soda softens the water. This will help the beans cook faster. Just 20 minutes after adding soda, the beans will become softer.
If you are very short on time, you can speed up the process as much as possible. However, it is permissible to use only split peas.
Before putting the beans in the pot, rinse them until the water becomes clear. Then pour salted cold water over the peas and boil for 10 minutes.
Then pour a glass of ice water into the pan. The result will be noticeable in 15-20 minutes. The peas will soften and become the basis for a tasty and aromatic dish.
