The potatoes are still a bit raw, but have already started to burn: what to add to the pan to save the dish

Fried potatoes are not the most difficult side dish to prepare. However, one mistake can completely ruin the dish.

Quite often, amateur cooks make the mistake of frying vegetables over very high heat.

In this case, the potato pieces may begin to burn, while still keeping the “cheese” inside.

At first glance, the situation seems hopeless: it is too early to remove the potatoes from the pan, and reducing the heat will not prevent them from burning.

However, if you use one little trick, the side dish can still be saved.

What to pour into the frying pan

Is there a kettle on the stove or table with some boiled water left in it? Great! After all, then you can cook the potatoes until done without burning them.

To do this, simply pour a little liquid into the pan and then cover the pan with a lid.

The heat should be reduced. After a couple of minutes, the potatoes will be ready and will no longer burn.

Perhaps this will not be quite the side dish the cook was counting on. The dish is unlikely to be crispy. However, it will be quite edible.

Important! Only boiled liquid can be used. Do not pour tap water into the pan.
