How to speed up cooking

1. First, the cereal is washed in a large amount of water.

2. Place the pearl barley in a saucepan. It is desirable that the pan has a thick bottom. Fill the cereal with cold water, the liquid should slightly cover it.

3. Place the saucepan on the fire and bring to a boil. When the liquid begins to bubble vigorously, pour a glass of ice water into the container.

The trick with cold water is repeated a second, third and fourth time, when the liquid in the pan boils again.

4. After the fourth time, reduce the heat to low and cook until fully cooked.

5. You can speed up the preparation of pearl barley even more. Throw a piece of butter or 1 tbsp of vegetable oil into the pan.

A greasy film will form on the surface, which will allow the cereal to cook even faster.
