An ancient drink that will put mulled wine to shame and strengthen your health during the winter.
In ancient times, drinks made from herbs and berries were popular. Tea was brought to Europe in the 16th century.
In Rus', vzvary (hot infusions) were popular, which were prepared from dried fruits. Drinks made from apples, cranberries, and lingonberries were especially popular.
The peculiarity of vzvary is that they are prepared without sugar. Honey is used for sweetness, and mint, currant leaves, oregano, and thyme are added to give a special aroma.
There is no need to talk about the usefulness of such a drink. Especially in the winter-spring period, when the immune system is weakened.
Many people associate New Year and Christmas with mulled wine. But during this festive period, you can try making a brew that is in no way inferior to “hot wine”.
Ingredients:
1. First, crush the cranberries using a blender and then rub through a sieve. Boil water with sugar, cinnamon and star anise.
2. After boiling, turn off the heat and add apples to the water. Leave to infuse for 12 hours. If you use honey instead of sugar, it is better to add it after cooling.
3. After infusion, add cranberries and stir.
The result is a very tasty and tart drink that will not leave anyone indifferent.
