What is NPR and how many times should a baby wake up during the night: important information for new parents

The abbreviation FNA is used when talking about children in their first year of life and stands for frequent night awakenings.

NPP should not be viewed as a symptom of a disease or a problem that requires medical intervention.

If the child feels well, sleeps as much as he should, and development proceeds according to norms, there is no reason to worry, because absolutely all children wake up in the middle of the night.

The fault lies in the alternation of sleep phases. And if adults almost always easily fall asleep again, then the situation is different with children due to the immaturity of their psyche, the prevalence of excitation processes and the lack of formation of the habit of falling asleep independently.

If we talk about newborns, they usually wake up every 2-3 hours, so parents will have to wake up on average 4-5 times a night.

Those babies who are 2-3 months old wake up less often – every 3-4 hours.

There are also cases when six-month-old babies sleep soundly for up to 6 hours straight.

Moms and dads who are very lucky can wake up only in the morning from now on – in order to feed their child and once again plunge into the arms of Morpheus.

Earlier we talked about what words teenagers want to hear from their parents.
