If your ears are healthy, they will inevitably accumulate earwax. To get rid of it, many people put different objects in their ears.

But since this organ is not intended to have anything inserted into it, doctors advise against cleaning using the following items.

Cotton swabs

When cleaning your ears with cotton swabs, you risk pushing the wax deeper and causing a plug to form. In addition, there is a risk that cotton wool will remain in the ear or the eardrum will be damaged.

Sharp objects

Avoid trying to remove wax with paper clips or matches. They can damage the eardrum or ear canal. In addition, these objects may contain germs that can cause infection if they get into the wound.

Burning objects

You may have come across recommendations to clean your ears by inserting burning paper or a candle into the ear. Experts do not recommend using them, so as not to have to treat the earwax plug along with burns.
