Scientists from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center have discovered which diet slows the development of multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer.
This is a wonderful feature of a plant-based diet with a high fiber content.

The study involved 20 people with a high body mass index, precancerous blood disease and risk of developing multiple myeloma.
They followed a high-fiber, plant-based diet for three months.
One year after the study began, none of the subjects developed multiple myeloma.
Two people with progressive disease before the start of the study showed significant improvement after the study was completed.
Scientists have suggested that the beneficial effect of this diet lies in its ability to increase the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut and eliminate insulin resistance.
This, in turn, helps the immune system fight malignant cells.
