Excessive consumption of tea can cause tachycardia, insomnia and iron deficiency.
Nutritionist and pediatric endocrinologist Daria Khaikina warned about this.
The doctor revealed the safe amount of tea per day in a conversation with the publication Gazeta.Ru .
As Khaikina explained, the norm depends on the type of tea and the individual characteristics of the body.
You can drink up to 3-5 cups of green and black tea per day (600-900 ml), white and oolong tea, which contain less caffeine, - up to 6 cups (1.2 l).
As for herbal teas, the norm depends on the composition. For example, mint tea in large quantities reduces blood pressure, and chamomile can be consumed without restrictions.
It’s not the tea itself that’s scary, but its strength, the nutritionist noted.
One cup of strong black tea can contain up to 90 mg of caffeine, she says, more than a cup of espresso.
Drinking liters of tea can cause irritability, tachycardia and insomnia.
Also, excessive tea consumption can lead to iron deficiency and gastrointestinal problems.
If you drink tea, try to do it not immediately after eating, but after 1-2 hours, the specialist advised.
In addition, Khaikina added, tea, especially green tea, increases the load on the kidneys.
