Tangerines may contain pesticides that can cause headaches and intestinal upset.
This was warned by the head of the food hygiene supervision department of the Rospotrebnadzor administration for the Moscow region, Nadezhda Raeva.
The expert’s statement is cited by the publication Argumenty i Fakty .
As Raeva explained, tangerines should only be purchased in authorized trading locations.
Under no circumstances should you buy tangerines on the street, the expert warned.
Also, thoroughly washing tangerines before eating will help protect yourself from pesticides.
In addition, under no circumstances should you take rotten or frozen tangerines.
If mold appears on one of the fruits after purchase, it must be immediately removed from the packaging and thrown away, the doctor added.
As mentioned above, pesticides can cause headaches and intestinal upset.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Pesticides have a multidirectional effect on the body.
As the doctor explained, the active substance can be different, so pesticides pose a danger not only to the gastrointestinal tract, but also to the respiratory system, central nervous system and cardiovascular system.
Even a small amount of residual pesticides in fruits is dangerous, Raeva noted.
