Next Sunday, September 22, World Car-Free Day will be celebrated. Belarusians too.

In connection with this, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Republic suggested that its compatriots “at least for a day refrain from using fuel-consuming vehicles.”

The press service of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate reported this on its official Telegram channel.

The agency draws attention to the following statistics: cars account for over 90% of atmospheric pollution.

However, production rates continue to show steady growth: cars are the third most advertised product after alcohol and tobacco.

It is noted that Car Free Day not only allows one to express concern about the city's ecology or problems with its infrastructure.

This day gives us the opportunity to look at our daily routine in a different way, the message says.
