Over the past three decades, the number of passenger cars owned by Belarusians has increased almost fourfold.

This statement was made by the Deputy Head of the National Statistical Committee Elena Kukharevich.

According to her, a passenger car is no longer a luxury item for her compatriots.

According to figures voiced by the specialist, over the past 30 years the number of passenger cars owned by Belarusians has increased by 3.6 times.

If 30 years ago every 12th person had a car, now every third one does, Belta agency quotes Kuharevich as saying.

And the fleet is being significantly updated, and sales of new cars are growing,” added the Belstat representative.

She also informed that Belarusians trust the domestic automaker.

According to her data, if a few years ago the share of domestic car sales was about 17%, now it is over 50%.

And the first deputy head of the Ministry of Economy Andrei Kartun drew attention to the fact that in 2024 the license agreement was updated, under which Belarus has already begun to produce its own Belgee car.
