Recently, Belarusian drivers learned that experimental road markings have appeared on some roads in the country.

In particular, this has been applied to certain sections of highways in the Gomel region, as reported by the press service of the regional Department of Internal Affairs on its Telegram channel.

We are talking about horizontal road markings in the form of arrows.

The agency explains: it is designed to warn drivers about approaching a section of the road where overtaking is prohibited.

Such markings, in particular, are present on sections of the following highways:

– P31 (Bobruisk – Mozyr – Ukrainian border);
– H4739 (Mozyr – Petrikov).

The agency also reported that in addition to the markings, duplicate road signs “No overtaking” are being installed on the left and right of the roadway.

It is stated that the experimental markings are intended to improve road safety.

Its goal is also to minimize the number of accidents caused by driving into the oncoming lane and violating overtaking rules.

For reference

Road markings (road marking lines, markings) are markings on the surface of roads used to communicate certain information to road users.
