On October 25, the State Traffic Inspectorate of Belarus will hold a Single Road Safety Day.
The event will be held under the motto "Driver and pedestrian, respect the crosswalk!"
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Telegram.
Traffic police inspectors will visit educational institutions and work collectives, remind them of the rules for safely crossing the roadway and driving through pedestrian crossings, and monitor compliance with these rules by drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that in September a public discussion of the draft law providing for adjustments to the Traffic Regulations took place.
The changes will primarily affect cyclists and people using personal mobility devices (PMD).
They have been asked to dismount again at pedestrian crossings, the State Traffic Inspectorate reported.
In accordance with the current version of the traffic regulations, when crossing the roadway on a bicycle and a SPM, it is necessary to reduce speed in advance, make sure it is safe and cross the roadway at the speed of a person walking.
Drivers should be extremely careful when crossing pedestrian crossings, the State Traffic Inspectorate added.
