On October 22-25, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Minsk Region will strengthen control over freight transport.
The press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee reported this on Telegram.
According to the regional traffic police, there were 11 registered accidents involving trucks in the country in the first half of October. One person died, 11 were injured.
Thus, on October 14 at 06:50 in the Stolbtsy district, a MAZ truck hit a cyclist riding on the side of the road, and at 09:25 in the Minsk district, a MAN cement truck overturned.
In order to prevent violations and reduce the severity of the consequences of accidents involving trucks, the Minsk Region State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct a series of preventive measures on October 22-25.
During the events, traffic police inspectors will exercise control, including covert control, over road traffic in terms of compliance with traffic regulations by truck drivers and officials of enterprises and organizations transporting goods.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that the weight of the cargo and the distribution of the load on the axles must not exceed the values established by the truck manufacturer.
Before starting the movement and during the journey, the truck driver is obliged, if objectively possible, to control the fastening, placement and condition of the cargo. In the event of a threat to road safety, the driver is obliged to take measures to eliminate it or stop the movement.
It is prohibited to transport cargo that limits the driver's visibility of the road; creates a threat to road safety; makes it difficult to control the truck, disrupts its stability; creates noise, dust, pollutes the road and the environment; covers external lighting devices and reflectors, identification, registration and temporary number plates, and also interferes with the perception of signals given by hand when the turn signals are faulty.
The State Traffic Inspectorate calls on truck drivers to strictly follow the rules, choose a safe speed and keep their distance.
