The previously announced ban on the movement of cars with Belarusian registration plates in Latvia has become a reality.
The Seimas of the Baltic country adopted an amendment to the law on road traffic in the second – final – reading.
It is she who introduces a taboo on the movement of cars with Belarusian license plates in the country.
This was reported by the TASS agency, citing a message published on the website of the Latvian parliament.
According to the new regulation, cars with Belarusian license plates must be exported from the country or re-registered before October 31 of this year.
Failure to do so may result in the car being confiscated.
Exception: the ban does not apply to citizens “with limited mobility.”
But on condition that these persons enter Latvia in their own cars for the purpose of visiting relatives.
The third exception refers to “special cases related to security.”
With this option, it will be possible to enter the country in a car with Belarusian license plates with a special permit.
